Resource Guide for Jobs on TAPS

There are more than 2000 people employed on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. Alyeska Pipeline Service Company operates the pipeline and has over 800 employees. The rest of the work force are hired by contractors providing necessary work to operate, maintain and support the pipeline.

This resource guide provides a description of Alyeska and its designated contractors regarding the types of jobs required to operate the pipeline and the skills and qualifications for many of those jobs. (Please note that the types of jobs listed on each contractor page are not currently being recruited for; they are listed so you will get a general idea of the types of jobs each contractor supplies to Alyeska.) The following is a list of job families for job posted over the past two years. Job families are used by Alyeska to describe positions in general terms and the range of activities it includes.

Job Family Qualifications
Administrative Assistant/
Pump Station Assistant
Two years of formal education in English Composition, Mathematics, General Business, Computer Science or Behavioral Science.
Engineer Engineering degree
Material Services Support Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, Accounting or Physical Sciences
Information Systems Analyst Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Quality Assurance Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration or a technical field.
Planning Team Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Science, Engineering or a related field.
