Alyeska renews Alaska Native Utilization Agreement Oct. 2004

Alyeska Pipeline Service Company renewed its agreement with the Department of Interior for the implementation of Section 29 of the pipeline Right of Way agreement.

Interior Secretary Gale Norton signed the fourth renewal of the company’s Alaska Native Utilization Agreement on Oct. 15, 2004. The agreement stipulates a variety of opportunities for Alaska Natives including scholarships, recruiting, placement, mentoring, job counseling and cross-cultural awareness training.

Under the agreement, which dates back to 1995, Alyeska will continue to fund its scholarship program that awards $750,000 annually and an intern program to train entry-level workers. More than 1,000 Alaska Native students have received program scholarships since they were first awarded in1996.

Information about Alyeska’s Alaska Native employment and scholarship programs can be found at http://alyeska-pipeline.com/employment or by e-mailing alyeska_jobs@alyeska-pipeline.com. Alyeska jobs include clerical, technical and professional positions and the company keeps resumes on file and notifies qualified applicants about new openings.

Some Alyeska contractors also maintain Alaska Native hire programs. Information about these programs can be found in the Resource Guide that is available on Alyeska’s web site.
