Electrification and Automation at Pump Station 4 nearly complete
Electrification and Automation (E&A) work at Pump Station 4
nearing completion, and the focus is now on commissioning work
which is underway. Two mini-shutdowns are scheduled for early to
mid-May for work needing to be performed before forward flow can
occur. A six-hour shutdown is scheduled for April 17 primarily
to perform control network security modifications to support
PS04, as well as a series of leak testings. Another
mini-shutdown has been scheduled for early May.
An Integrated Management of Change (IMOC) process is underway,
led by Pipeline, Oil Movements and Engineering Sr. VP Mike
Joynor. In addition, Joynor is leading an Operations Client Team
(OCT) comprised of directors and departmental managers impacted
by E&A implementation to serve as the leadership board for
coordinated decision-making.
“The OCT ensures a safe and effective decision-making process
for proceeding through commissioning to the legacy equipment
isolation phases of the E&A project. The IMOC framework ensures
TAPS remains unified and functioning during the transition,”
stated Joynor. “Together, this process will ensure that the E&A
project work meets operational requirements, fulfills
commitments, and achieves the project objectives.”
